Area High School Football information 2024

School is back in session and fall is right around the corner, it is just about time for the High School Football regular season to begin. Teams in our area have been working hard in preseason camps getting ready for the start of the new season, here is a look at some information on our area high school teams.


John Handley Judges

2024 Schedule

Aug 31 (Sat) v Musselman 1pm

Sept 5 (Thursday) @ Harrisonburg 7pm

Sept 28 (Sat) v James Wood 1pm

Nov 9 (Sat) v Sherando 1pm

The Judges are led by second year Head Coach, Jake Smith who was previously the head coach at Sherando, Smith took the place of former Handley coach Dan Jones.

Last season the Judges finished 8-4 and defeated Millbrook in The Region 4D quarterfinal before falling to Salem in the Region semifinal , the Judges made history in a first round playoff win last season and in year two they look to take it one step further come this season.

The Colonels are under the direction of Head Coach, Todd Wilson entering his second year.

Last season The Colonels finished 4-6 under the new playoff format in the region, James Wood missed the playoffs.

The Pioneers are coached by longtime Head Coach, Josh Haymore.

Last Year Millbrook finished 7-4 but fell to Northwestern District rival, Handley in the region quarterfinal


Sherando Warriors

The Warriors are coached by second year Head Coach, TJ Rohrbaugh who previously served as Sherando’s defensive coordinator for many seasons before taking a brief role as the Coordinator of Student Activities at Millbrook before returning as Head Coach for the Warriors.

Last Year the Warriors finished 5-6 and fell in the first round of the region playoffs to E.C. Glass.


Clarke County Eagles

The Eagles are coached by longtime Head Coach, Casey Childs.

Last Year the Eagles finished with a 9-3 record in a very tough Bull Run District, Clarke entered as the six seed as they traveled to Buckingham County in the region quarterfinals and advancing to the next round where Clarke fell short to Riverheads.


Strasburg Rams

The Rams are coached by first year Head Coach, Tripp Lamb who replaces former coach, Mark Roller.

Last Year the Rams finished 8-3 with a first round home victory over Fort Defiance before traveling to a well known opponent in Central in which could go down as one of the most exciting playoff games in the local area last season, unfortunately Strasburg fell to Central in the region semifinals 8-7 with a last minute two point conversion by Central towards the end of the game.
